Mary Stuart
--------
black pencil 2b and 4b on thick paper a4 format, from these stage 1, stage 2, stage 3.Coloured pencils over the 3d stage, with wax pencils for the walls and floors.Total time aprox 1 hour and halffor November's Theme "Chiaroscuro"
----------
This piece subject homages Serious's requests to me of creating a piece involving the former Queen of Scotland Maria Stuart's death. The literary tragedies about her that interested me since young age are those of Vittorio Alfieri and the one of Schiller, but an historical reconstruction of her bold and dramathic life filled with passion, blood and intensity can be found here.
I deeply enjoyed the theme for this month, and out from it I have certainly learnt better about the importance of chiaroscuro for atmospheres and realism in artworks but as you see especially in this piece, I still linked to a not fully realistic style, due I guess to my love for theater and symbologies, that I always fill all my pieces with (those who know me enough to discuss with me of my creations know even the smallest of touches has a sense in what I do).
Sadly this coloured version suffers from the low quality of the scanning, determined mostly by the not regular grainy effect the wax pencils over the chiaroscuro forcedly cause. But I hope you can feel at least the atmosphere of the scene...
I thank all member in 2D Forum for providing each month awesome inputs and advices to let hobbists like me not only amuse themselves, but for challengin us the most towards improving as the amusing exchanges go on.
THANX Cam&the Crew!!!

il disegno meraviglioso Meli, questo un'illustrazione assolutamente bella smile
I like it because I am of Scottish heritage, but also it is a wonderful work of art
really claustrophobic, Gal. Last month I re-view the magnificente TV 70's series "Elizabeth, Regina" and the scotland queen episode (Tudor vs. Stuart) is moderate, elegant and very desolate.
Dramatic image. Stunning light reflections and atmosphere. Bellisimo arte!!
Your ability to create so many facets from within a sketch is remarkable in itself the lighting and reflections are just wonderful..
Sorry I missed this when you posted.Took me a day to scroll to the comment box.Your talent shines once more!!!!I do like the effect you achieved.
Wonderful title and marvelous colors work...well done!!!:o)
Beautiful composition with very powerfull expression!!!!
I feel strange writing something more after such a flood of good comments... anyway I have to add my bit although probably I'll repeat things already said. I like the theatrical setup very much and I like the suggestion of the colors which obviously create the impression of the artificial light. And i like the rough texturing, I think you give the best of your talent when you use a rough, dramatic and "unfinished" style.
Ok come non detto ^_^ si sei speciale e non solo riesci a trasferire momenti drammatici in modo cosintenso ma il tuo uso del colore per rappresentare le sensazioni e le emozioni spettacolare, grazie piccola ti volgio bene Orietta
Very compelling emotion and composistion of the figures, has a great warm coloration, super work Meli!
Muito bonita essa imagem. The idea for the drawing is the best thing you have... and your skill match yours criativity. Parabs, conseguiu denovo. Beij.
I love the composition and colors that you used.
Witty, eminently dramatic sketch, with nice texture and gloss, and tactical depth as a digital image, including the sly "sunken" face, hehe. Whatever a "fully realistic style" might be remains a bit of a mystery perhaps. Certainly not "photorealistic", which is not very "realistic" at all. On the other hand, the old Soviets were fond of calling their their dull, sustained silliness "realism" too, weren't they....
Awww Meli! This is amazing!!! Heather
you have capture the story greatly
very well done original image! quite brilliant
Die Kigin opfert ihren Kopf . . . Solch ein trauriges Bild . . . Eine sche Abbildung . . . !
love the feeling
Wonderfully Done!
D'une dicatesse incroyable excellente image :-)
TRIPLE EXCELLENT MY DEAR FRIEND
I really like the mood of this work. The thick textures help fortify the overall feel of the piece. The emotional characteristics of the main character also works in creating an emotional response.
Awesome work , pleasing to the eyes
Dovresti volgerti pispesso nel drammatico: hai un dono espressivo che allenato produrrebbe meraviglie.
non perfetto come esecuzione, eppure cospregnante di significato emotivo.
Che fantasia, che profondit..
Wow, I'm speechless.....the colors...the light & dark....the composition.......incredible!
