Description
*I still remember the laughing
you allowed me to hear.
I still remember the offences
you let your kids to scream.
For you I was a no named mistake,
for you I was a stranger and a mess
that could have brought disgraces to face.
I had a heart,
But you never cared...
I got a soul,
but you had no traces to dectect it...
luckely I've always got love
to protect me from your stupid assaults.
I never lacked embraces,
I never lacked protective forces...
But I wonder the way your kids use
now to behave.
Demons can be raised up,
in fluffy shells
that seems to care
only of their peers to speak up.
I wonder the way you've thaught them
affection and respect,
when they could,
with your adfirming grin back,
make fun of me just for
a surname that I started my days without
and only at my third sun out I started to have.*

pencil on paper, with chalk for the background. No postwork, 22 per 30 cm. For October's Theme "The sleeping of reason produces monsters".
-----------------------
This second piece for Goya's inspired October's Theme focuses on the way the malice and bad skill of parents ready not only to justify, but to bad inspire their kids can corrupt both present times of living, and the future one in even worst way.
The role of parents is the most delicate and the more I see around, the less I feel many of our societies' shallow personalities can handle it well.
Kids are meant to be always sweet? No way. Kids can be violent and abusive and cruel.. especially when they are not put in the right road of care and responsible respect from their families.
This piece shows how monsters can be raised by monsters. The girl who cries, well that's me. When at asylum I had to stand idiot remarks from people blaming me because I was adopted. In their stupidity the parents of these little lords were lookin at me with compassion, and that unsufferable look of superiority, like they were having something I lacked, unable to see how lucky I have been instead, to be chosen and loved all my life by a REAL family, and generously and openly accepted and wanted like rarely any other kid on this planet.
This piece tells that .. love wins. My tears, those days, were always erased by my beloved mum and dad, who used and still use to say me "people who hate simply cannot understand the meaning of true love. And it's their lacking and their missing and their frajility and fault. Not yours."
Enjoy this peculiar work. I thank PunkClown and people in the 2D Forum who allowed this theme, so I could pour out this little stone from my chest :)
Hugs everyone... and God bless all those parents who, raising up a child in full love,(a child they took from the refusal of someone else not customized for that delicate role) have showed that the betray of blood can turn out to be a gift from above. And that the only link that counts, is not genetics, but love.
To my mum Franca and my dad Giampaolo. For having always made me feel...only their adored daughter :)

Very creative artwork and great style ! Excellent concept ! Congratulations Meli !
Wow, this is amazing!!!! Fantastic work!
It was courageous of you to create this picture of your old pain. I know it had to be hard to recall that time as you drew this image. I feel your pain in the pencil lines, but I rejoice in the knowledge that you were loved so well by your real family. :)
great picture again. And i agree, family is one of most importat thing in our lives.
absolutely a vote!Have a great days with your family,Dear!
Great work! Its really fantastic!
Thanks for sharing this Meli. It is so powerfully done and very emotive with the explanatory text. The graphic style and symbolism is fantastic! It is also heartening to have reconfirmation that love conquers all thoughtless barbs and injury.
Really great work ! You are a great artist !
Oh.......you've made me cry - some parts in empathy and resonance for that pain, and some parts in joy for the family you had. You are so beautiful, Meli. Such a treasure
Yes a great artist! I love this, reminds me of the old Vampirella comics from the 60s/70s in style.
Disquieting and perfectly done! You are a true artist, Meli!
Very well done, and you have even the humor captured clearly in this piece. I wonder how it would look if you enhanced it with color? :)
Much to see in this image and much to read, to analyze and understand. The work of an artist is Art when it produces reactions. Superb Meli.
Excellent drawing Meli ...and your words sad but true.
Adorable vision y humanidad meli tu historia es muy conmovedora excellente trabajo como siempre uno de tus mejores.
I find it disquieting and perversely beautiful. I can't understand if there is suffer or strange joy in the children. One of your best so far.
Wonderful art Meli. Very well done!
Very forceful. The drawing. The story. ....thanks Meli...
I don't know what to say. Is very excelent
i agree totally - this was one thing i always noticed! children are by nature cruel, even the smallest children are taught with their parents and (scarily) the media's predjudices. It's jus like 1984!
A great tribute to you parents, Meli! But again you have an issue here. As a teacher myself I know how important rolemodels (like parents) are.
amazing expression of your theme, really near and emotional - exciting work
As always, you really put yourself right out there emotionally and creatively. This is a beautifully intense and healing work. And a wonderful tribute to the power of love.
My heart goes out to you dear Meli :-) I thought I had it bad growing up...I actually had a good childhood if not even spoiled too much...then my parents divorced when I was sixteen...my life went to hell at that point. There must be some connection...I was a scapegoat rebel then...Not that they meant to harm me, but the lives of kids are very much influenced by their enviornment and parents. I can only imagine what it would be like to grow up as an orphan. I am happy to hear though that you found good parents and family. (sorry to take so long to comment here, and I like your home page pic) :-)
I have never expressed art through my skill before and may never will...'cause I became an artist because I want to make a living not to show my feelings. That is why I became multi skilled and continue to improve.
I think everything I was thinking about this has all been said. Your feelings on parenting, and how fragile and impressionable children are is embodied in this picture, Im glad you could express your thoughts and feelings so purely. excellent work.
Hi Meli! What a scary tragedy! Excuse me please, that i'm so late to comment and write so a few. The poem in association with this picture, speaks for itself! Wow!
The one who sees is the one who cries...Having worked in several schools in America, and being a parent, I feel that what you have to say about the upbringing and unknowing cruelty and crudeness of children is very truthful. Sensitive children, and unfortunately adults, are greatly outnumbered. Being sensitive is being aware. Aware not only of the thoughts and feelings of others but also of ones self and ones place in the world. If we cannot understand others how can we hope to function among other humans. My kids are pretty much all grown up now and I would hope that their eyes are truly open. Great drawing and poem. An artist opens our minds and makes us think and react by sharing themselves and their views. You certainly are very good at that.
