Now this is why I like Cinema, I can just render this while working on something completely different! Almost no slowdowns on workflow.
This ball was rendered in 5 hours and uses a background HDRI. If you want to know more about how HDRI works and want to download some samples and thewatershader I used for this image, go to:

I also fiddled a bit with Thinking particles to get them to stick to the ball so they would form waterdroplets.
Comments greatly appreciated :)

photo real if i have ever seen it. absolutely awesome
Wow, very fine quality of stream bed and reflection.
You have done it just right, this is really great! Is it a map for the stones or geometry? :))
The water looks spectacular. -- 3d_e
nice water ,those droplets make it nearly perfect ...
great picture! i love the drops of water on the ball :) also thanks a million for the forum links there, i was struggling with hdri, couldnt quite figure it out, its all good now and the free pictures on that site are fantastic!
Your water shaders and water environments (HDRI) are simply tremendous!!!!Wonderful work..
wow, very realistic but 5 Hours!!!
That's really lovely work!
Beautifully lit. But there should be a ripple around the ball where it meets with the water. Love the droplets though.
Simple, elegant and very clean. I saw this when you posted it to CGTalk and I downloaded your files as soon as they were available :) Now if I could only save up enough money to get R8 (and BP2) so i could try this for myself...
Thanks for the wonderfull comments all!! I am going to put this entire scene up for free download when I get my server done!! Thanks so much!
Great realistic image! I want to buy C4D8 :)
I'll be damned.. :)
Very impressive. I would like to learn more about your thinking-particles-sticking-to-the-ball technique.
that is really good... I have no idea what you are talking about 'thinking particles' and I do 3D imaging for architecture for a living... but I never do particles... no need... would love to hear more about how to get this 'wet look' and should learn more about Cinema 4D.
