Description
Thanks for looking!
Because the road was steep and long,
And through a dark and lonely land,
God set upon my lips a song
And put a lantern in my hand.
-Joyce Kilmer
Inspiration from a wonderful book I have read many times over the years, called "A Lantern In Her Hand" by Bess Streeter Aldrich, about a young girl who went west as a bride and helped to build a nation.

Great image Irene. Hope she is out strolling and not going to work....
Nice one! The grass might be a bit to oversized?
A very pleasing scene. Dave
What a gorgeous outfit! A lovely image of times gone by and interesting to know what inspires you. Thanks for sharing that. :-)
wonderful image Irene.. I love it.. it looks just like it must have, with the trees and the brush in back of the cabin where a stream is.. and the praire grasses.. must be buffalo grass lol..

Wonderful outfit, and I like the pose too, very much!! Ever so nicely done, Irene!
She looks like the strong women that helped to settle this country. And, I've never seen a cow so contented looking. Nice composition, Irene.
Lovely, Irish; her pose is just perfect, shows real determination.
great ! only 2 things are not excellent (for me...) the oversized grass and the little house behind the lady... maybe its to simple ?
What a lovely scene! Great image.
