Description
Here's some of the stuff I've been doing in the real world. I work with a brilliant glass sculptor, who pretty much does a rough conceptual design and then leaves me to my own devices making sure that it all gets done. He gets the credit, I'm happy with some cash.
It all starts out with a site inspection [1], where I get to do some on-site dimensioning work. Me, mucking about in the fountain with a tape measure, while the boss is busy rubbing elbows with attractive hotel patrons.
[2] I then create a couple of quick renders using LightWave 3D and composite them with photos taken on site. This gives our client the ability to visualize the sculpture, and promptly reject both schemes.
Fortunately, a third scheme is approved. Again using LightWave 3D [3] I am able to accurately model what the final sculptures need to look like. These two models become the basis for a few pseudo-engineering calculations (like weight). We now can figure out that we need to build the two sculptures in several sections, otherwise we can't move the thing.
Now comes the part I hate most, [4] bringing the 3D data into a CAD program to generate cut lists

Cool Bud.... looks like you've been busy :o) Thomas
Cool Moe!
Quite fascinating to see the real world application of your 3d skills. I don't suppose anybody's asked you to create a full size glass mecha tank type thing? :-)
love this kinda stuff, looks cool man moe,...
wow moe..thanks for sharing...its a wonderful life you have...well it seems really interesting work and something you can enjoy
WOW! what a great opportunity, Im sure this will lead to greater things, u definitley have the modeling skills for engineering 3d, all the best- pava jaam
nice design moe i love it
Wow Moe! This is a very interesting facet of your skills you've shared with us! Too cool! I got a good laugh from jarm's comment!
Absolutely fascinating.
This is wonderfull. Seeing artists creating real world objects through 3D motivates me to no end. To actually see your thoughts come to life. Excellent moe, you have shared something great with us all.
Intresting to see some "real work"
Thats kewl Moe, I think it would be tons of fun hehe.
You get the cash there and credit from us here!!! But who gets the girl on the left?
A brillant scupture relying on a brillant 3D modeler: the result is a materpiece. This is truly amazing Moe!
wow moe you've been busy eh :) hehe
Wow! trully great! You must be a really happy human being, getting to combine your hobby with your work and still get paid for that... God, I'd give anything to be in your shoes!... My compliments for you talent and skills, as usual! ;)
Hey, this is kewl! You da man! :-) hehehe
Very interesting work Moe! I used to be a brick layer, so I can relate somewhat. Now that I run newsprint, I have 1 hour to create a quality publication. VERY fast paced work. Agree with Lahavana; Must be interesting to see your concept become a real object.
Neat-O!! Very educational, Moe.
very cool stuff, interesting way to build such a large piece =)
