Description
...in the year 2260.
This unusual design has an enclosed hammer, so it has a soft hammer release as well (top rear of the slide). I modelled it with the same dimensions and ergonomics as a Glock 43X, so it's practical and has realistic proportions. The gun is tiny, 16.5cm long (6.5 inches for the primitives), 12.8cm high (5.04 inches) and just 2.8cm wide (1.1 inches). It has a barrel length of 9.5cm (3.74 inches) so it's not made for long range shooting, rather for close protection and indoor use. The diminutive size allows easy concealment and it will be carried by several of the characters in one of my forthcoming stories.
A fact that amused me is that the 9x19mm parabellum cartridge is the most accurate model I have ever made of a real-world object. Not a complex modelling job but with the excellent reference I found I modelled it in Blender as precisely as I could.
I wanted another modelling project that could be completed in a single day, so this popped out. The longest task was UV mapping, closely followed by making the bump map. As yet it has no texture maps, though it may not need them as it won't be used in extreme close-up. I might make some with camouflage patterns on the polymer covers.
