Inside the Xenobiology Research Institute, android technicians hurried around an assembly table, carrying arms, legs, eyes, fingers, and various suspiciously unnecessary components in cardboard boxes marked SPARE PARTS - DO NOT THROW OUT. “Where does this go?” asked the assistant, holding up an ear. “Probably somewhere near the head,” said the Supervisor. “We’re missing a leg!” “Check Box Three.” “Box Three contains twelve elbows.” “Why do we have twelve elbows?” There was an uncomfortable silence.
