A ancient Philosopher once said: "You must not torture Yourself with bad Memories!" Thats true, I think, wipe away what is not to be changed and throw it into the Stream of Time! Thats a good Way to handle that! (I have a "Hurt-Locker" for that Purpose!) ... The bad thing is, he went on and wrote: "The Coming may be Your Sorrow!" :/
The philosophers always have some interesting musings.
I agree, not good to torture one self with bad memories but I also agree with the phrase "You may forgive, but you should never forget." As painful as this is for me, I want to remember the devastation and what was lost because of what was done. The trees there were important to me and were part of my life growing up and I never want to forget them.
