In so much as the idea of time jumping would be nice the maths in 4D is way to hard let alone the power it would need to use, no it would be better to make wrap drives, with the Rockets we have now and the speed limits impose by their engines it would take more than 1000 years to reach the next star and that's only just over four light tears away. Our Sun that great big yellow ball is only 92 million miles away from us or to put it in better terms just over 8.5 light minutes or if something happen on the sun even if we are looking at it it would be over 8 minutes before we know our sun will when it's dying will start to go dim it's heat will lower then it expands not at the speed of light which one man stated was the fastest matter can travel but many times faster it will expand past Mars in a blink of an eye, people are what ever is on this lump of rock will not see it coming, but the good thing is that's not due to happen for quite a few years well past our grand children life time
