Another storm over Lake Michigan.
(Real photo. I got outa there as soon as I could. The storm was huuuuuuge.)
I post this about every 2 years, just to show people what a Midwestern storm looks like.

Wow. What a play of colors. A successful and lucky snapshot.
"Lucky"s the right word: Those clouds formed in about 10 minutes, and when I realized what was happening, I took several shots and raced outa there like a race car driver. Amazingly---right behind me was a huge mass of high rises---downtown chicago's right behind me. Thanks again for your comment, lordi!
Divine colors!
Oh thank you, Nena...I didn't think about the colors, and it's a revelation that people see them! All I remembered was, that sky was way too dark, and I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. The colors were because of the incredible sunlight messing with the clouds. Thanks for your kindness, again.

Again, thank you for your kindness, Steve. The little "things" on the horizon are a few shipa plus a lighthouse. That's the lake, believe it or not. And the tiny bit of sunlight---between the lake and the clouds---made it look surreal. (Can you imagine being on a boat, with that storm brewing? Man, those boaters had guts...) Thanks again, Steve, much appreciated..
On my first visit to Texas, long ago on a sunny day, we noticed black mountains across the north horizon ... they turned out to be clouds ... and approaching rapidly. About 10 minutes later I had to stop our rented car under an overpass before we got blown over. Others were not so lucky .... we later passed dozens of trucks tipped over after we continued going north.
Thanks, Max. Great memory. I've heard about Texas storms---they could hold their own with the Midwest any day. And I've been caught in tornados---from a distance---those things can blow houses across a town. I have no doubt they can turn over trucks...
Great looking storm photograph Mark, I would be tempted to take cover if I saw the skies about ready to burst open to unleash the rain from above. :)

thanks caty77...those beautiful colors are a brilliant bright sky, just behind the clouds. It was impossible to believe that the sky was so beautiful, with all those clouds "getting in the way"....In the Midwest, a beautiful day can turn to dark-night in the middle of the afternoon, in just a few minutes time. And this sky what you get. Thanks for your kind comments! (PS---2 minutes after this shot, the storm hit, and I got soaked!)
