Just a casual Sunday stroll through the bone-dry Bavarian Alps. The mountains are still there, but the water is gone. If our summers keep getting this hot, your local hiking trail will look exactly like this pretty soon. Pack your lederhosen, your goggles, and an empty jerrycan—because these days, you don't go hiking for the view, you go hunting for water.

Ich erinnere mich an waermere Sommer, Hitzefrei, weil schon Morgens um 10 Uhr herrlichste Temperaturen herrschten. Kein See trocknete aus und Wassermangel gab es auch nicht :)

Reminds me of lake Powell where I swam in ... then about 20 years later the water level dropped so much that most of the bottom was dry, exposing previously underwater caves.

Well done as always. You faded the background to make it look even more like a relic of the past---which is what I think the world will become if we don't stop this warming trend (if we can). When I was in grad school---in the late 1970s---there was conference, all the way back then, on "the coming environmental crisis". Lots of scientists from all over the globe were there. And one of the leaders of the conference leaned forward---to a large Press corps---and said: "Excuse me, but these are serious f---king cards, people!" Ie, like a game of poker that can lead to someone going bankrupt. Our country has been criminally negligent on this---today, it calls it a "hoax". As we say, "don't get me started on that...") I especially iike the volkswagen and sunken boat---not too promising a future! You even have a dying scooter. Fine job on this, as always.
Thank you very much. I also think that, over time, this problem can no longer be sugar-coated or ignored. The price would simply be too high, and I never wanted to live in a world like the one in Dune :)

I can remember coming back from the Tyrol towards Hamburg in 1976. The Rhine was so low the fish had all died from lack of Oxygen and we passed many, many diggers removing tons of floating dead fish from the river. It's happening again & happening more often. Stay safe & try to collect and store water when you can get it.
Yes, unfortunately, that’s how it is. A colleague of mine wanted to go on a river cruise on the Rhine this year. She had been looking forward to it for a whole year. Then, just a week before it was due to start, the whole thing was cancelled with no replacement. Too little water in the Rhine...
