Description
my dearest mother passed away at the age of 91 years young. we the family have known for several months her health was declining. more s o over the last 2 weeks. she stopped eating about 9 days ago and started refusing to get out of her bed to get showers and going to breakfast, lunch and dinners. they mostly sponged bathed her during this time.
she suffered mostly from Dementia , her heart was good, but with her age and falls off her bed and Dementia took a quick toll on her.
this photo was taken on May 11th at a Madd Hatter luncheon at her assisted living center. i have another photo i'll be posting after this one.
i saw her on Friday for a few hours, her hospice nurse gave me updates on what was going on with her condition, she gave me grim news that her heart rate, pulse and other body things were shutting down rapidly. i asked her if she would make it until Sunday. she shook her head and said no, most likely by Saturday sometime. she said sorry for the news and the condition of her.
on Saturday i went to visit her for the last time knowing she would pass sometime this day at 9 AM. after entering her room, when i saw her in bed, i .saw right away she was not breathing, i got t her bed quickly and checked her chest, was not moving, checked her pulse on her head, nothing. i had ran to the nurses station and said my mother is not breathing, they came in and used one of those finger monitors, i could see right way there was no reading coming up. she looked at me with a sad look and said she is gone. at this point i broke down in tears , then the hospice nurse who has been caring for her over the last few weeks came in she had to verify the results. she gave me a much needed strong hug for my loss.
i did not ask at the time when her last visit was on her, but on Friday she mentioned she checks in on her every 2 hours. so when i saw her Saturday i was the first person to find her passed away, the living center did not know she passed. but i went in at 9 AM on the dot and saw her like that. so i was the first person to discover the sad news, if i had waited another hour before going in, i most likely would have received a text message of her passing.
i right away texted my sister and nephew about her.
myself i could not bear watching them taking out her body to the hearse, my nephew stayed there, since she was a vet on her military service they had a flag covering her to the vehicle .she will be cremated and buried with military honors when the time comes. she served from 1951 to 1953 and went on to service with the government as a secretary she worked for 40+ years.
goodbye my dear mother, i miss you, love your son.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your heartbreaking story made me relive what happened to my parents. This life is tough, it's a test that becomes increasingly difficult as time passes. But we know that in the other life we'll be happy, so happy in a way we can't even imagine. Now we must be strong and try to do our best in the time that separates us from finally being able to reunite with our loved ones
thank you kindly.

These two dedications to your mother are remarkable. You shared so much.
And you shared things about her life which are so amazing. What did she do in the service, 1951 to 1953? And she remained in service for 40+ years? Remarkable. She sounded like such a strong and positive person.

I am very sorry for the loss of your dear Mother. I wish you strength. She will be with you always!
From what I am reading, your mother had a very peaceful death; the hospice staff took a very good care of her and especially during her active phase of peaceful dying. This is how I would like to die when my time will come to the end. Knowing that, it is always a sad event for her close living relatives : you and your sister. She will have a so honorable funeral services. I hope that the coming time of grief will not be too overwhelming. You and your sister will be closer than before. Courage!
Steve I'm so sorry to hear about your dear Mother...Beautiful picture of her she looks like a kind soul.... My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this hard time💕
