where the feud began - 2 very ancient enemies ( googled them ) - the ancestor of the hyena and and type of sabre-toothed cat... - today - Lions and Hyenas are mortal enemies and will kill the other if able...
Oh yeah, I heard of a battle between a male lion and a pack of hyenas that went on for DAYS. They really do not like one another.
