Description
Following on from the previous image, i thought i might do a series based on the Völsung Cycle of Germanic/Norse folklore...
Fáfnir was a dvergr, commonly interpreted as dwarf, though as in old norse mythology, dwarves and black elves (svartalfar) were synonymous, probably not quite like a dwarf in the modern sense. He mudered his father Hreiðmarr to steal the weregild given him by the gods, before venturing into the desolate wilderness of Gnightaheath to keep his ill-gotten fortune. There he became ill-natured and greedy, turning into a great wyrm ever lying on his treasure to protect it...
