The concept of creating "green islands" within a city is rooted in the realization that—particularly during very hot summers—so-called "hot spots" emerge in urban areas, a term to be understood quite literally in this context. To counteract this phenomenon, Singapore launched the "Gardens by the Bay" project some time ago: right in the heart of the metropolis, a futuristic-looking greening initiative was established, centered on metal structures designed to resemble trees. These structures serve as a foundation for cultivating a multitude of plants and trees which, through the microclimate they generate, help lower high temperatures and create a kind of "green lung." This very idea—of establishing oxygen-producing vegetation in areas that are typically hot and sparse in plant life—served as the inspiration for this set.
