Sam Spade: Yes. Webley-Fosbery Automatic Revolver, .45, eight shot. They don’t make them anymore. (Sam was discussing the gun that killed his partner Miles Archer with the police. Actually the .455 model chambered six rounds. The .38/200 model held eight rounds.)
I remember that the gun that killed Sam Spade's partner was said to be a Webley. Your interesting details suggest that you are an expert in this area. The line I remember most clearly is "... but Miles was just dumb enough to walk down that alley with you, sister."
Can't beat a well delivered line by Bogey. The Fosbery was one of Webley's less successful pistols. The .455 round was a stand by for British officers using Webley revolvers because of its great knock down power. Many officers were not happy when Webley and the military switched to the .38/200 round in the lighter and handier Webley Mark IV. They asked dad if they could take his older and heavier model back to war.
