I've ever only seen one turtle, in the wild, and he was small. How is it that photographers can spot things like this? Most of us usually never go strolling along and say "Hey look, a lump! That there is a swimming turtle and here I am with a camera!" Never happens! Nope. Must be sorcery.
Heh, well it took me a bit to start spotting them. I think once you do, you start getting used to what to look for. Once I see something that might be a turtle, I use my zoom lens to focus and double check. I've lucked out in seeing some swimming just under the surface of the water in the pond.
Most tiny turtles in our neighbourhood never got to grow up to their full impressive size, unfortunately. There used to be so many before the ba####ds drained the area.
Oh that is such a shame! I'm really happy about the ponds and creek in the area it is so important to supporting the life in the area
