Description
I wanted to do a render of this for a long time, and finally, here it is. The Stormbringer, in it's hanger. He has a bigger one, but I had issues. Not with the plane, but rather, the airport I tried to use caused a crash, so, nope. 3-d-c's hanger is the biggest one I have, so I had an opportunity to finally use that as well, and Yup, it's a hanger. Fireangels other huge plane will not fit. It's BIG! Bigness! HUUUUGE. I thought it (the hanger) looked a bit bare, but a google check for some reference pictures informed me that there are, in fact, clean, uncluttered hangers. This then, is one of those. There are no people, because it was a Friday, and everyone's gone out to the pub. Or to visit Grandma. You do visit your grandma don't you? Unless she's passed on, then go visit your mum. If she's passed on, sorry for your loss, off to the pub with you. I'll be right along.
This was easy to convert to Iray textures. I just ran the 3delight to Iray script I have from ... um ... somewhere*, and presto-chango, done. OK, Not done, just the first bit. I fiddled with metallicity, diffuse roughness and the emission textures, THEN I was done. OK, No I wasn't done. That hanger is HUUUUGE and in multiple parts, and I forgot a few bits. Then I retextured a few more, so: render - no - fiddle - render - NO - fiddles - render - %$*@!!! - fiddle ... you get the idea.
The Stormbringer itself has a red and black option, plus extra bits. I wanted to see how the base figure rendered, so this is the default. Overall, crisp, clean, and nicely proportioned.
On other fronts, I'm thinking of snagging Poser Pro. I'll have to buy it outright rather than upgrade since my copy of Poser Pro 2011 is long gone along with the install files. While I do Like Daz, the move to rent what I used to own really pissed me off. They deleted my owned copy from my account as well. Kinda sleazy if you ask me. I am running an RTX 3060 card, so apparently it will handle the newest version, but rent to use really turns me off.

almost looks like a photo so well done Shawn. brilliant work.
Thanks! The plane helps, it just looks good.
The hangar is friggin' awesome! I recently used the exterior of and the asphalt ground plain from 2nd World as the background and base for an outside render. For interior shots, this would be my ticket too! I don't recall having seen this set before. Phenomenal work with it! It looks amazing in there. Love the texturing. The Stormbringer too. Fantastic. Gorgeous render!
Thanks! One thing I need to do is expand my inventory of good exterior sets. Preferably ones that don't crash.
This came out really well, nice work on this.
In regards to the Daz thing, I'm surprised they'd delete something from your account! Have you tried contacting support to see if it can be recovered? I know some of the newer plugins etc became subscription but I thought the older plugins were supposed to be supported in the older daz versions still
And as for Poser, do you still have your license # for it? You might be able to recover the 2011 version if you have the license key?
Daz removed it when they went to their subscription model of service. There is no compensation. As to Poser, nope, the license and install files were on a backup drive that died right before I wouynd up homeless and lost everything I owned.
This looks really great, Shawn! Oooo! It even has one of those buzz-guns all ready to do some cleaning! Sweet work, sir!
Two of them! There's on at the rear too! Good to see you sir!
This looks awesome! You're right, there are clean hangers. That's actually pretty important when you're flying jets, because loose objects can get sucked into the intake and damage the plane. When I was in the Air Force, we weren't even allowed to wear hats (other than tight-fitting helmets) on the flight line for that very reason.
Don't mind me taking notes. That all makes sense though. Funny, I never noticed on aircraft carrier video's whether or not their head gear is strapped down. I'd hate to be the guy who took out an F22 when his snickers bar got sucked out of his pocket.
Excellent work!
Thank yah kindly!
Interesting work I wonder how that would work with the wing tip engines
Technically, I can't see it wor....
... And A quick google search landed me the X-76 sprint, which pretty much does what Fireangel's does. Oops, there's also the V-22 Osprey.

Thanks!
nice bird there. really cool.
I want one! Great render!
Thanks!
Amazing aircraft and great looking hanger. Excellent!
@Madbat That's unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear that
Some of my more expensive photoshop plugins did the same when they switched to a subscription model. Unlike Daz, if you have your old license(s) you can download legacy versions and use the license to activate it. I no longer have those. The rule now is, you do not own what you buy online. You lease.
A superb composition that was born under adverse and hindering conditions, from what I read in your interesting account of the evolution in the world of software programs and licences ! I am sorry about that even though I am now and again a victim to it as well ! By the way, thank you for your recent comment in my gallery and letting me know of this Terry Pratchett I had never heard of until then.
Terry Pratchett is an amazing fantasy author (the Diskworld series) if you are into that sort of thing. He dipped into some sci-fi with 'the Long Earth' series but that one never held my attention.
@Madbat There have been enough software I moved away from because of that. I agree with on the whole 'rent' thing - I do not like renting software, I want to buy it.
Same here. I don't rent. I did find a link to another plugin I used to have, but I no longer have that license either, so I'll have to re-purchase it.
So realistic ! A big bravo. I don't want to nose in your business but, if I was you, I'd go on creating in Daz Studio. The 2026 version looks great.
If my card will run it, I'll try the 2026 version. So Far though, I'm running 4.24.
Wow, thank you, you have done a really good job of making this convincing with the environment and lighting. Looks like the rust is falling away.
I just needed to swap the textures over to Iray ones and teak a few.
Looks so real, outstanding results...
Thanks, His planes look awesone in Daz with some tweaking. I's like to see one rendered in Superfly.
