Description
A little boy named Theo sat by the window, holding his teddy bear in his arms. The moon hung large and bright in the sky.
“I want to know what it’s like up there,” Theo whispered.
“Then let’s go,” said the teddy suddenly, wiggling his button eye.
Theo smiled. At night, his teddy was always alive.
Together they folded a paper boat. Carefully, they climbed in, sitting close beside each other. As soon as the boat touched the windowsill, it began to glow—and gently lifted into the air.
In front of them appeared a winding staircase made of silver light. It curved upward in wide arcs, higher and higher, until it reached its end. There, the moon was waiting.
The paper boat glided step by step up the shining stairs. Theo held onto the edge, and the teddy held Theo’s hand.
“Almost there,” the teddy whispered.
At the top, the moon was soft and quiet. It smiled as they arrived.
“Little travelers are always welcome here,” it said.
They stayed only for a moment. Then, laughing, they slid back down the curved staircase in their paper boat—until they reached the window again.
In the morning, everything was still.
But Theo knew: whenever the moon was waiting, they would travel together.
