Austin was my pet Pacific Parrotlet from 1999 to 2011. He was an unbelievably talented talker. One of his favorite things to say was “Austin’s a pretty bird” and make whistles and kissing noises. Of course, later in life, he started putting words together and creating his own phrases. For instance, he started saying “Austin’s a pretty b******” too in addition to even more colorful metaphors. We loved him though. Oh, I never put a toy mirror in the real Austin’s cage because parrotlets can be aggressive and, if Austin saw his reflection, he’d attack it.
