Description
Ancient Ritual...Pretending to read while I unobtrusively study your geometry.
Well, this image came with it's challenges. I decided to use a character that I hadn't used before. I loaded him and the chair and began to pose him. But the chair seemed too short and too wide. I began to resize it and had to adjust his pose every time I felt it wasn't right. And then when I added the book, more of the same. Thought I had it all set and I rendered. His face was horrible. The eyes looked like they had a film on them and they were encircled with something. I guess he loaded without eye texture applied and without eyelashes applied and without eyebrows. I applied them and again I thought I was all set. I rendered. The next day I opened the image to get it ready to post and I thought his skin looked incredibly dark. I could adjust the upper body in PS, but not the lower body. I went back to DS and tried to fix it. Tried adding more light to the leg area, but they remained dark. Couldn't figure it out. Ended up applying a different skin. And that seemed to work.
I looked at the product page to see if his legs were like that for some reason. Nothing stood out. But there were images of him with blood all over his mouth. So he's not your typical character.

That's a bit unexpected! Some characters I find have been a bit of surprise when rendering, a few of the default settings I find myself adjusting to get closer to what I want. Strange it doesn't match how it is in the promo, wonder if there are multiple skin options or some other setting options. Not sure which character it is, I wonder if you could reach out to the artist and ask for setting suggestions?
Thanks, APlusDesign!
Quite the adorable young man, and awesome pose!

What an ordeal, with having to readjust so many times, to get a render that you liked! Congratulations on sticking with your vision and eventually attaining success!
Most often, when I want to use a character texture, I apply it, then un-do the application, then I go back into the material room and apply all the textures manually, so that all the "extras" that the artist installed into the character texture application don't load at all. I have a few different Michael 4s set up with different texture modifiers that I prefer (vein displacement, etc.), so they stay in place as I manually apply the chosen texture, then I can make adjustments as I prefer, if I want the texture to be darker, or use a different texture's lip texture, and change the eyes to the color I want.
Congratulations on your latest beauty, MIO!
Thanks, Ricardo!
Nicely done!

ein sehr schöner Render
Thanks, Paulienchen!
Great character and scene!
Thanks, rbowen!
Sometimes these figures are a bit stubborn, which I unfortunately know all too well. Then it takes so much longer than usual :-(. But your patience and your ideas have paid off 😊👌. The guy seems to be sitting comfortably :-) I'd be interested to know what kind of big book he has....
Thanks, SamaraBlue!
Great use of light!
Thanks, nemesis74s!
It was good of you to share your experience. I've encountered several similar problems myself lately, always using the Genesis 9 figure. In one instance I got a normal face but a blue body. As naturalistic as the facial features of Genesis 9 may be, I find Genesis 8 more reliable.
Nevertheless, your finished piece here is very impressive.
Thanks, flamingokid!
