Description
This is at the beginning a drawing by JRR Tolkien. It was transformed in an Aubusson tapestry in 2018.
I won't tell the story in itself, being a Tolkien's one for his children. Letters from Father Christmas came at their house for 23 years. They are enjoyable little texts, always with drawings. Good to read before Christmas, like I discovered 2 years back.
Father Christmas has more and more friends, or helpers, throught the years. You can see one of his helpers here, North Polar Bear.
The drawing at the top was made by Father Christmas; the lower band with the strange white bear was made by... North Polar Bear and his huge paw of course!
Unfortunately, the woven way isn't visible on any of the photos I have for 1926. It's owned by the International City of the Tapestry (in Aubusson) but like all of their tapestries, it travels time to time.
