Description
-Summer is a hussy, imposing
her hot desires without grace.
Over a wide spread of hours,
a sneer upon her radiant face.
Fall is quieter, a maiden aunt
who does not want to intrude.
She mutes the heat and glare
with her much mellower attitude.
Winter, ah, sweet winter of beauty
is a pillow-breasted grandmother
who quietly paints her world in
sculptures of snow soft as a lover.
Winter, lady of great gentility,
spreading her apron over the land,
hiding the marks and scars and muck.
Skirts smoothed by a lady's hand.
Time she shares so generously
as the days surrender, shorter grow.
Winter is a time of peace and rest
bathed in a tranquil muted glow.-
