Description
George travelled under the name Thorne instead of Rosenshine when travelling on the Titanic to match the last name of his mistress Maybelle Thorne who was travelling with him. She survived having boarded the Collapsible D but George did not.
Some of his belongings were recovered from the wreck in 1987 such as a stamp from Ceylon a British Crown Colony (today is Sri Lanka) and a baggage receipt.
When travelling on the Titanic he brought with him 12 cases of ostrich feathers for the family import business.
