Description
The adult male Great-tailed Grackle is iridescent black with a purplish-blue sheen on the head, back, and under-parts; yellow eyes; and a long, graduated, keel-shaped tail. The adult female is much smaller and dusky brown, with darker wings and tail, with iridescence confined to the brown upper-parts.
Its diet during the breeding season, comprises mainly animal material, including insects, other invertebrates, and some plant material. During the non-breeding season its diet includes mainly plant material.
