Hello Rendosians!
I upload today a picture of a torii (鳥居). Litterally the name means "where the birds are" but also "rooster's perch".
It symbolises the gate of a sacred place, the separation of sacred and non-sacred and is located at the entrance of sanctuaries or shrines.
This picture represents the torii of Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima island and is one of the most famous view of Japan.
Itsukushima's torii was built in 1168 but nowadays' version was built in 1875 and is 16m high !
Its nickname is "the floating torii" as it seems to float on water when the tide is high.

Impressionant. Je ne l'imaginais pas si grand. D'habitude il n'y a personne sur les photos.
Ce qui est fascinant dans cette photo superbe c'est que le temps gris n'enlève rien à la beauté des lieux mais, au contraire, ajoute comme une touche de mystère, pour ne pas dire de mysticisme...un mysticisme qui nous échappe très largement, comme beaucoup de choses au Japon.

Je rejoins ce qu'a écrit notre ami gaius: ta superbe photo prend toute sa mesure avec ce dégradé de gris qui fait ressortir la magnificence et l'élévation spirituelle que procurent le lieu d'implantation et les proportions impressionnantes de ce torii. Assurément, tu donnes envie à plus d'un ici de visiter ce fabuleux et captivant pays du Soleil Levant. Chapeau l'artiste !
