Ten or fifteen years ago, no one would have believed that small, hand-controlled aircraft could be used in wars. Yet drones are now small but highly effective tools with a wide range of uses: for spying, for transporting explosives, for example, and even for unsettling those being spied upon, simply by their presence. These devices affect the airspace. But what if appropriately constructed mechanical aids were designed for use on the ground? What would they have to look like, what COULD they possibly look like? I assumed a multi-legged animal that can move confidently on almost any solid surface; equipped with appropriate eyepieces, it can transmit panoramic images without the need for human scouts. I created the basic images for this set over a year ago with MyEdit, and they've been slumbering on my computer ever since. Having since been reworked, improved, and expanded, I think they're good enough to be published.
