Superman arrived on this planet in 1938. Which means that he is 87 years old. Perry White is even older. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are not much younger. Yet no one is up in arms about Superman being only 30-something in the movie that was just released this summer. Something new was introduced in this movie - Superman’s Kryptonian parents aren’t the benevolent folks that we’ve thought all these years. The “canon” has been violated! How terrible! But please remember - this movie, all the others, the comic books, etc. are all Fiction. Writers don’t have to pay attention to canon. Superman’s suit is blue. That’s canon. But suppose in the next story the writer says that Superman dives into a volcano that Luthor has thrown chemicals into to make it erupt. Those chemicals mix with volcanic fumes and make a gaseous soup that turns the blue dye in Superman’s suit to a permanent green. So much for canon. These Superman stories, like most movies, novels, etc. are just fiction. The next writer might just turn everything back to the way they were.
