Fear of clowns. A widespread fear, especially among children...but not only! Adults are also affected. It's probably this difficult-to-assess, color-altered facial expression that makes it difficult for the viewer to understand what the masked person is thinking and feeling, and this uncertainty leads to discomfort and ultimately fear. Yet it's not even the painted figures from the circus that are supposed to teach us to fear, but rather those who wreak havoc without face paint: rulers of all kinds who make arbitrary decisions, lack consistency, have no plan, and make questionable decisions based on their gut feeling, which ultimately end up being detrimental to everyone. You know the people I mean! The set was inspired by old clown horror films, but also by "IT" and "The Joker," as you can easily see.
