Description
(For the background of what this character was created for, etc., please see my first render in this series that I created of Luke Skywalker. Thank you.)
The final character render for today is of Padme Amidala as portrayed by Natalie Portman. This was one of the more difficult likenesses to sculpt. I kept thinking I had it finally right then realizing I got something wrong. Her nose is what gave me the most trouble. Noses always give me trouble. It took me forever to find a model of her Naboo blaster and when I did, the model had no UV mapping and wouldn't import into Poser correctly. Thankfully, I have some greatest people ever as friends!! My friend Verica took the model into Blender and fixed it for me. She's a Blender master! I am forever grateful because not having that blaster was driving me crazy...er. Since I created those lightsaber blade shaders in Superfly, I've been experimenting with making blaster bolts/laser beams from the various weapons as well. So far, my attempts have been lacking something. I'll keep trying.

Padme is looking good here, Lizzie! Yeah, noses can be a real pain to get right. Getting a decent likeness isn't as easy as one would think. Especially of celebrities for some reason.. I've tried a few times to do one of Taylor Swift, but there's always something that I just can't get right. Grrrr....
Anyway, you've done great with Padme!
Yes, making likenesses can be very difficult to get "right". The key is to have lots of really good reference photos from as many angles as you can get. I've also learned that eyes are very important. I figured out a new trick where I get the highest resolution photo I can find of their eyes, then overlay a cutout of their irises onto a 3D eye texture. It really helps to get the eye color "just right". :)
