A big hit in the early 60s it did miss out on a lot of play time on the radio over it's long time, most records then was under three minutes while this was near the four minutes
What was the house,
well there was talk that it was an drinking house , some say it was an place were men would meet up to do such things as play cards and chat, while some people say it was a house were men would go and pay a lady to sit with him and drink, and some other things,
the simple truth is what ever you think it may have been.
There is a place called the Holy Land most people think of the son of God and were he was 2000 years ago, some think of an Ale house in Liverpool within the docklands while any one from my neck of the woods think about The Queen's Unv Belfast and the area near it that gets visits from the local Police late at night, over the drink both that you would buy in the Off Licence and that made in the back garden shed which we don't talk about

Good creation. I used to hate this song back then. Didn't like the deep voice and the very minor sound. My musical tastes have expanded a bit since then, so I could probably listen to it now. He has a low voice but sings well.
Back in the 60s this song was the whole go over here, all the groups and bands played it

They did great songs back in those days funny but I can only remember a few songs that the singer did, but you are talking about the early 60s time dose slip bye so very fast
