Description
A pair of US Navy North American Rockwell T-2C Buckeyes on a training flight over the USS Kitty Hawk.
The Buckeye was the aircraft used by the Navy to transition its pilots form prop driven to jet aircraft from 1959 to 2004. Approximately 11,000 naval pilots were transitioned during that period. The Buckeye (an untrained horse) was a safe and reliable jet trainer with stable tricycle landing gear and a tandem cockpit with the instructor in a raised seat behind the student and equipped with dual controls.
It isn't the sleekest looking aircraft, but its beauty was in the admirable success it had doing the job it was designed for. The Buckeye was replaced by the T-45 Goshawk (see my previous post!)
Between its nicknames of "Safety Jet" and "Attack Guppy", I've always thought that Guppy best described it.
Excellent NAR T-2c Buckeye model purchased at razbamsim dot com, with some mods for the occasion. Excellent USS Kitty Hawk by Oleg Petrenkov acquired years ago from the now defunct Gunpoint-3d, also with texture mods. The carrier crew are Daz Gen2 "Skittles", the nickname for the colorful coded uniforms of the carrier deck crew.

An outstanding render. I can't think what I like best: the aircraft, the aircraft carrier, or the splendid and realistic sea. Extremely well done. Pat yourself on the back. Twice!

Excellent implementation of a good idea. The flyover over the carrier is a good idea and gives the picture dynamism. The picture is perfect.
I've been trying to build a post-war Essex for ages and can't get any further because time keeps running out. So I'm even further away from a Kitty Hawk class carrier. Now I'm going to get my Enterprise ready for Unreal Engine. That's lot of work too.

Thank you, Alice. I know what you mean. It took me quite a while to get this Kitty Hawk model ship shape. Good thing is, once it's taken care of I can use it again with out the hassle.
