The sign looks very new and shiny. Is it in a park?
Yes! The city added it in because we have turtles living in the park that like to cross the road between ponds. Trying to keep the little guys safe on their dangerous journey, especially since we have a native turtle species in the park.
Is it a slow turtle crossing or slow down turtle crossing? :-)
Heh, both I suppose! We don't want the turtles hit so please slow down but the turtles don't cross very quickly either :D
wonder if they do cross and who pays attention zooming up the road?
I have seen the turtles cross between ponds a few times - they like to change which pond they are in.
Paying attention when driving though is a bit tricky especially when the turtles are small and grey in colour (baby turtles). They are easier to see when they are older and more colourful but even then can be hard when they are low to the ground. Most people have been good driving not to quick through the area (especially since there are no sidewalks so you get people walking on the road as well, plus geese, ducks, doves, squirrels, turtles...) but unfortunately you get some people zipping through real quick because they think it is a thru-way and they try to use it to beat traffic - it's not a thru-way.
