Description
Normally around this time of year, I put together something about the myths and traditions of Easter and other springtime festivals. However this year, I notice that the Lyrid meteor shower coincides with easter, so that's the theme this time around.
The source of the shower is material left by the long-period Comet Thatcher last seen in 1861 and not expected back with us till 2283. The Lyrids are one of the strongest showers and have been observed and reported since 687 BC making them the earliest recorded such phenomenon. The ancient Chinese Zue Zhuan describes how "at midnight, stars fell like rain"....
This is worth a full res view, even if i say so myself. Happy Easter to all 🐣🐰🐥

Fantastic portrait!! Great job my friend 👍🙋♂️
This is really outstanding, Joe! Especially the full-res version! Wow!
Sadly we have storms and rain all weekend here, so this is the only view of the shower I'll get to see.
Loving the comp and light :)
