Why cats fold their tails over their paws is a question for serious students of animal behaviour. Are they expressing contentment? Are they protecting themselves? Are they declaring sovereignty over a territory they consider their own? Mind. As far as I know, the big cats don't engage in that behaviour. Have you ever seen a leopard posed like that?
