Description
The Aral Sea, originally one of the largest inland salt lakes in the world, has been shrinking considerably since the early 1960s due to climatic changes and is now only a fraction of its former size. Ships that sailed on it have gradually run aground and are now lying somewhere in the middle of the mainland as relics of times gone by - a surreal sight, but real!
The water is also receding elsewhere, e.g. at the tides...leaving ships and boats that did not "get the bend" in time to be left stranded for the time being.
Water...an elementary part of our lives, in many ways.
