AI assisted and Photoshop
It was in the destroyed city of Lexon where the sphere was said to have been created by the alchemist Duron. The sphere is said to have the power to light twenty cities. It was smuggled out before Lexon was destroyed by a flash of light. Another failed experiment by Duron to create even more power. It was hidden in the caves of Lucame, only to be found a century later by two wandering poor teens. They took it to the city of Saba and sold it to a merchant that sold it to Kami. Who thought it was pretty. She didn't know what she had until one day during a blackout all the lights in her room lit up, powered by the sphere.

That sphere must contain some serious AI and advanced tech to be able to pull that off without blowing out the girl's lights and burning-up her room. Better hope that Kami isn't evil, unless the sphere already senses that Kami is good.
Kami is an honest, virtuous young woman. Born in the outer Curaious plains, she worked herself up to be second lieutenant in the second spacewing of the galactic transport group stationed on the planet xnos. She is presently dating Hon, the Vice President of a rest station chain.

Well this is all total overload for me. Just brilliant image and cool writing. I know this sounds a tad pretentious but are you sure you didn't do this just aimed at me...knowing full well what makes me tick! OMGosh those eyes, and the POV which I still can't do very well. :-)

Bob, that sounds like you've got a whole story behind this Kami, with details and all. If you're not writing a novel, perhaps you should. Recently I read an SF novel [Perilous Waif] by some independent, unknown author and it was simply amazing - a thrill ride.
Just wrote the story as I went along, to match what you asked. I do write full stories though.
