Because it was that or move to a bigger place and you hate moving even more than renovating? The Significant Other knew exactly how to sweet talk you into it? There was a sale on everything at the hardware store? Bored and couldn't think of anything else to do? So many reasons/excuses/possibilities you could pick from.
Or you could just say the heck with it and enjoy the view. What view? Why, the one of those very fit workers you've hired to help out with your project. Quite a lush bit of scenery they make, especially in those hard hats, work boots and teeny, tiny leather shorts. ;-)
