This is an introduction to some facts that not that many people have heard, and since I found them fascinating I thought I would spread them around. Tyrannosaurus Rex was not just the most dangerous and most common large predator in its ecosystem, it was a member of a closely related family of dinosaurs. As the T. Rex was the first to be discovered that family was named the Tyrannosaurids, or Tyrannosauridae. And here we have an illustration of one alongside the T. Rex, the Bistahieversor Sealeyi, sometimes known as the "Bisti beast" or the "Bistahi beast". It was much rarer than T. Rex but their range overlapped somewhat, so they would have met even though it would probably not happen often. Weight estimates for mature adults range from two to three and a half metric tons, so although smaller than a T. Rex it was still a formidable beast. Because of its lighter build it was likely a lot faster than T. Rex, so it would not have fallen victim to its bigger relative very often in spite of the size disadvantage. Rendered in Blender 4.0.2.
