J'adore! Bien qu' adorant la peinture flamande et hollandaise du XVème au XVIIème siècle ( une des spécialités de l'Histoire de l'Art pour mon CAPES ) et malgré de nombreux séjours en Belgique et aux Pays-Bas, je ne connaissais pas ce tableau, en tous cas si je l'ai vu, il ne m'avait point "frappé".
Je partage tes goûts pour cette période, je t'avoue que cet auteur m'était inconnu aussi, avant que ce projet me le fasse découvrir. Je crois que je vais développer une mini série avec ces deux personnages. :)

Thanks for introducing me to Pieter Aertsen; there seems to me to be a lot of energy and liveliness in his painting. My first thought was how art is being defaced as part of environmental protest but the happiness of the two women made me think that they were celebrating life rather than protesting which changed my view of the image completely. =) Their tee shirt messages made me laugh when I considered possible meaning. XD

it is indeed a humorous interpretation of activism targeting works of art. I can be much more corrosive in the last variations that I expressed on this theme. For me, no cause deserves to destroy works of art, in the sense that they are part of the heritage of humanity. History has shown us, unfortunately, that those who destroy works, as harming the nation, end up destroying the beings who created them.
