Description

Indeed the EP is something more for vinyl, but the term seems to still exist for digital downloads and CDs. My brother's and my friend Jim came to us pre Covid and we made the full CD of The Tor "Last Exit" 2017. It was Jim's release of the majority of ideas he had, a few old and many new and a chance to show his brand of blues and "classic 60s 70s rock". Chris and I and our friend Rich accompany him on that. Again, pre Covid, early 2019, we started a new project and got in by one song (The Raven) before everything kind of fell apart. Fast forward a few years and we resurrected The Raven at Jim's request and I got Rich to finish the drums in Jan 2023. Due to some health issues with Jim along with other things a full project was not going to happen, so Jim decided to include one song of the original CD to go with this new track that are, for lack of better words, close in genre. White Wolf was a heavy, plodding, early Black Sabbath style and this new track the Raven, is more like a later Black Sabbath or Judas Priest kind of song with a heavy beat and very up tempo. Either way they fit into the hard rock/metal category and should be released in the next couple of weeks or so on CD and as downloads and on Amazon Music, Jango Internet Radio and YouTube music. We're keeping the release simple with a cardboard sleeve with a front and back and that is what you see here. I've noticed the growing disdain for the use of AI and those that consider any AI as not art. I disagree with that and will try to keep it short. To me, AI is just another tool to create my art. It has offered me alternatives and completely new ways of achieving an artistic piece that I might not have considered or thought to try using my existing skill sets. Yes there are hacks and people that use AI as a joke and people that do not have a sense of composition or certain skills that can make the best use of AI. Or even a vocabulary to make some AI work. But that does not mean it is not a useful tool nor does it mean imagery created with it is not art nor can be used to enhance ones art. I spent a lot of time trying different words and phrases as well as using existing images made by me and from stock photos to help the AI generate what I wanted. In the end I used six different AI images and one stock photo and composited everything in Photoshop using various photoshop tools for scaling, erasing, selecting, cutting, cloning, coloring, etc to create the front and back image here. If you do not think this is art or something I thought about and composed or I somehow cheated my way into making this that is your opinion. I've posted some AI images without any real photoshop manipulations, but I have and do usually put a fair amount of thought into how to phrase something to create the image I want. But that said, the art generated a decent amount of positive comments and likes and so forth. Imagine my disappointment when I see some of those same people commenting and agreeing with others that AI is NOT art. To me that means they were being disingenuous when commenting on my simple AI art and lying about their like for the images and how cool or clever they thought the images. This has made me reconsider some of whom I can trust here. On the other hand some made positive comments and view AI in the same manner as I do, just another tool and creative outlet. Not a political subject or something where people need to make a stand and look down their nose at those who do enjoy AI. AI is not the end all be all. I still will use Poser, Vue and DAZ to great extent. But now along with Photoshop, video editors, Flowscape, Blender and ZBrush, I now have another tool I can turn to to create. Everyone is entitled to their view, and I thank the free world that I and most of us here live in, that we can debate and talk about this openly and offer different perspectives. I offered up how I made these images and if anyone here wants to tell me why they think this is not art, because I used AI in its creation, please feel free to offer your explanation below.
