Where is he?
She'd wanted this evening to revitalise their relationship. She'd been feeling they were drifting apart for weeks, maybe months, and had made a special effort to make everything perfect. She'd checked with him that he was free, no commitments. So where is he?
Hours have passed since the agreed time, and no word. No phone call.
He could have walked here in minutes. So where is he?

Slowly something in her heart was dying, shriveling. It could have been perfect, now her tears were threatening and once they started, she didn't think they would stop.
