Description
For a seven year old it had been quite a shocking surprise being able to read characters out of books. And to explain to adults that Pinocchio was not an imaginary friend but a real, well..., person living in her bedroom. It took her some effort to find out how to send him back, especially since being "hid" in the fireplace was her first idea but not an option in the end. But it taught her not to tell anybody about her gift.
Mr Inky was well read (he hated the pun), but always cheered her up and she decided to keep Shelob until the rat problem in the cellar was solved. The nameless Zombie (obviously a coward) only could be read out of his story when the fridge was well filled and she was very unsure what to make of the wherewolf, who always asked her to wear red lingerie. But all in all she enjoyed having them around in the darker autumn days and she was very happy for them to answer the door when the neighbourhood's children came round for Halloween.

Her particular friends, whom only she had the means to conjure up, were hanging on her reading, for they followed the words in her brain as if she were reading aloud. They had found a way to prolong her reading indefinitely, making a few tears of unspeakable passion twirl from their incandescent eyes to the lamp shade. there, like so many traveling fireflies, they traced the map of her constantly moving imagination.

Awesome scene that delivers the magic that can only come out of the mind of a talented artist...its nice to see that 7 year old grew to be such an avid reader and in turn accumulated such an amazing group of friends to watch her back sort of...pun intended "lol" I enjoyed this wonderful image together with the well done story...happy Halloween! :-)

Hmm... I always thought that enough weirdos appear on this planet the natural way, not too sure if I want those imaginary ones on top of that chuckles.
Clever and well composed - prose added to a scene adds a lot, also. A picture might be worth a thousand words, but nobody's declaring a limit...
