Description

The guy in the middle is ME. The guys on the outside are my late Mother and Father. My Mother worked in the Wrens plotting RAF and Enemy aircraft positions during the War Years and my Father was in the SOE and SAS during the war years as a Lieutenant rescuing American Nurses who had crash-landed in Albania during the war years. He was later promoted to Major and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. My Father, "Lieutenant Gavan Bernard Duffy" has been written about in FOUR different books and was featured in a For Men Only article, which I will post shortly. I was always proud when he stood and saluted when the national anthem was played. Everything I post for a short while anyway will be in memory of our late Queen Elizabeth and of course my late Father who was awarded the Military Cross for his bravery. Thank you for stopping by. God rest our Queen!

Lovely family portrait, Steve. Me thinks the young lad takes after his father :)

Like many people, I was shocked to hear the news of the Queen's passing, since it was only two days prior, at the Queen's invitation, that Truss was at Balmoral to form a government. QE2 looked frail but cheery, not like she was about to pass. I so admired the Queen and am greatly saddened by her passing. I remember watching her Coronation when I was a very young girl (nearly 7) and loved all the pomp and circumstance. She had such an extraordinary life and was such an example of grace and strength (and even humor) throughout her reign.

Great family...did Ben McIntyre write something about your father ? I read ALL his great books (in English !). Even French people feel a bit sad this morning even if they cut the head of kings !!!

Lovely memories of your family.

We were very shocked by the Queens passing so suddenly after welcoming Liz Truss.

Thank you for sharing your personal life about your parents and queen... I am not a UK citizen but I feel the Queen was a "world" queen... I for one will miss her smiling face. Be well!
