haha that's more like it! The parrots which have taken over south London are ring-necked parakeets.. Not quite as friendly as these three though....
Question: How is it that possible that you have so many parrots flying around, like we have the sparrows? 🤣
Its not certain how parakeets became naturalised in London - it is thought that originally, in the early 20th century, people let their pets go after a parrot fever scare. Then, according to urban legend, some escaped from the filming of Bogart/Hepburn's "The African Queen". There.s also a story that Jimi Hendrix released some on Carnaby street in 1968.. Many also escaped after the great storm of 1987 destroyed some aviaries... Whatever the truth, they obviously like it here and have multiplied to around 30,000!
