Description

I just started messing around with Bantam's free grass generator (www.bantam3d.com). Even when I was far too drunk from the X-mas mulled wine leftovers I still got some decent grass together at my first attempt. The software can surely do much better. But a little stretch of grass was not enough. I wanted a whole prairy! So here we go! I think I will let the grassland warriors roam the prairy a bit longer now :) A Cheyenne war party in search of the enemy. Please note that for the first time ever I have included a male indian warrior in one of my pics, LOL!And the women don`t wear high heels! Well, not yet. Not until they have captured and looted the stagecoach they just spotted on the horizon. Hooka Hey!

Nice, but you need a better ilumination, ambient light more hight to iluminate the dark areas. I use ambient light to 130, a soft light in the same position of the camera to fill the dark areas, and a high ligth with shadows to simulate sun light. With only 2 lights you can simulate a natural light for your scenes.

I think it looks quite good, particularly if you were at the mercy of the holiday tipple. I am also curious about the source of your Native Americans; one doesn't see a whole lot of this sort of picture in these galleries, and they look pretty darned good. Will look forward to seeing those other pics when you post them.

Thanks for the advice. In fact I used three lights here. Since this is supposed to be broad summer light there got to be shadows and dark areas which are not illuminated. The pale look is on purpose, however. I thought it was an interesting effect. I will post some closeups with the original stronger colors later.

I love your Native American stuff. It is an interest of mine, too. I always enjoy seeing your images, and they get better and better with the poses. Do you do your own clothes or are they available somewhere? I would be interested to know.

I want to congratulate you on your use of some realism in this pic. The mocs for instance, using the top seam in woodland or plains American Indian clothing is correct. Hey and leggings, cool. Great detail, one that many would have overlooked. Course, woman didn't paint their faces, but we'll let that go as artist license lol ;-) When you do depictions of other cultures is it nice to be respectful. I think you did a good job on that.

Thank you all for your warm and encouraging comments. I am striving to get ever closer to a lifelike depiction of Native Americans. As far as woman warriors are concerned, there are many sources about individual woman warriors and also about a consistent pattern of broad gender choices which opened up the road for young women to devote their lifes to hunting and warfare instead of housekeeping. I have only seldom seen reliable descriptions of such woman warriors. So I guess that they simply dressed up like the men did. Which would include everything from having one's own war horse, one's own medicine and consequently one's personal war paint.

A very interesting and elegant composition. The textures of the figures and horses are superb.
