Description
Stülper Huk is a huk (North German for small, usually elevated peninsula or corner as a coastal form) in the lower reaches of the Trave, at a bend in the river opposite Pötenitzer Wiek and Dassower See in the Dummersdorfer Ufer nature reserve.
In the 12th century, Henry the Lion had the Huk fortified with a castle because of its strategic location and its elevation (Hirtenberg) above the ice-age meltwater channel of the Trave, but the castle was destroyed by the Abodrites, about three decades after it was built. Today, the Stülper Huk is considered one of the important ground monuments in the Travemünde area.

beautiful flat lands jutting into the water...these are gentle mounds; and in your first 2 shots, they look like rolling carpets. In the final shot, you gave us the background, which is awash in deep oranges and even purples. Monet would have painted this---he used purples with oranges and reds beautifully. And the last shot gives the feeling of low lands and beautiful jutting chunks of land. A beautiful landscape, Christian.
