During the months of May and June 1940, the H75 scored 230 confirmed and 81 unconfirmed aerial kills, losing only 29 H75s in aerial combat. About 1/8th of the planes in the France airforce were H75s, but they claimed 1/3rd of the kills. In France the name "Hawk" was not used, the officially designated was Curtiss H75-C1. C1 stands for Chasse (pursuit) single-seater.
