A rare (for me) foray into the Ossian cycle of Irish mythology. According to the legends, the beautiful Sadhbh was enchanted to take the form of a deer for refusing the love of a druid of the Tuatha Dé Danann. One day a serving man of the druid took pity on her and told her that if she set foot in the fort of the Fianna of Ireland, the druid would no longer have any power over her. She travelled towards Almhuin, home of Fionn McCumhail and was found by him while he was out hunting. Since Sadhbh was a human in animal form, she was not harmed by Fionn's hounds whom were also originally human. On entering Almhuin, Sadhbh became a beautiful girl once more and soon she and Fionn were married. Fionn loved her so much that he gave up hunting. She was subsequently tricked into leaving the safety of Almhuin, whereupon she reverted to her form as a deer, and is said to wander the forest to this day, under the curse of the Tuatha Dé. When Fionn went to search for her, all he found was a wild boy, whom he recognised as their son. The boy was named Oisín, and grew to be the mightiest of the Fianna and the greatest poet of all Ireland. Done for a DAZaholics challenge over on DA (for which I had originally intended to use the preceding image of Gwenhwyfar). G8 using a morph mash of about 6 characters, elleth hair and a pair of old DS3 antlers from the DAZ creature creator pack....

Your most recent graphic looks great as always. I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful weekend as we prepare for the worst in Europe and if there is a "God", he should intervene NOW!

PS. I dont know quasi nothing about the Irish mythology.

Stunning... really beautiful use of lighting.

Koo-kul-in), also Cúchulainn, is one of the greatest heroes of Irish-Celtic mythology, particularly the Ulster Cycle. The son of another cultural hero-figure, Lugh, Cú Chulainn is a mighty warrior whose weapon is Gáe Bolga, a terrible spear that inflicts 30 wounds on its target from only a single strike.

Lol... could you create another masterpiece featuring this legend?

JoeJarrah 4:48PM | Fri, 04 March 2022

Thanks for the kind comment Katyee.
Though most of the celtic myths I illustrate are Welsh, I did do one image from a couple of years ago (Fall of the Hound of Ulster), depicting Cuchulainn's last stand; you can find it in my gallery. Also, from the same mythical cycle, a picture of Queen Meadbh of Connacht. I daresay I will be visiting the Irish legends again, so yes, I'd happy to do another render featuring Cuchulainn at some point - maybe a scene from Táin Bó Cúailnge :)
