So far, there has been no unusual radiation. I think the Russians realize they would suffer the effects as well.
As to Penn's statement about "America losing its soul..." No, the WORLD would lose it's soul and everything else. Raise your hands if you want to see a world-wide thermonuclear exchange between the USA and Russia. That is why there is no direct conflict between America and Russia. Putin is insane and he has nukes. Not good to push a wild animal into a corner.

What is happening in Ukraine is the result of us thinking "Oh, that will never happen. He would not do that." I refer to the invasion of Ukraine.
